Dear Calibrate Studios Community,
It is with mixed emotions that I announce the celebration of our 5-year milestone at Calibrate Studios, as well as an exciting move to a new location. As of September 1st 2023, our team at Calibrate Studios will be joining forces with The Gym, marking the beginning of an innovative chapter in our journey and saying goodbye to the humble space we've called home.
Firstly, I want to express our deepest gratitude to all the incredible individuals who have been part of our community over the past five years. It's because of your unwavering support and hunger for bettering your health & lifestyle that we have flourished and grown. Together, we have been able to get through both wonderful and incredibly challenging times over the past few years. It is because of you, our Calibrate community, that we have been able to build an inspiring and supportive hub both on and offline for our wider community as well. I'm sure I speak on behalf of not only myself, but also for our team, that the connections made, the stories told, and the collaborations forged have enriched all our lives immensely.
Leaving our current space is undoubtedly a bittersweet moment. It holds countless memories. In saying this, I can't say I will miss walking the streets of LKF of 5am witnessing drunken bodies sprawled across the streets, or leaving the building with hecklers on the street reminding us of the daily "happy hour, happy hour!"
The Studio has evolved quite a bit over the years - for those of you who don't know, we actually started off with shocking bright blue walls (from the previous tenants - definitely not my choice of colour). Starting this Calibrate journey solo in the studio posed its daunting parts, but at the same time, like now, there was plenty of excitement to look forward to as well. Revamping the space and building this little sanctuary in the heart of Central has been a true delight. In this time, our team had continue to grow from 1 to 2, to 6 in a matter of time. With the help our my team, we converted our small balcony to create a lounging area not only for clients, but it also posed as a great little napping nook. Bit by bit, we introduced a few more changes on the interior, and eventually went through a full renovation to open up our gym floor space to better use it for classes and PT sessions at the same time. We've been so blessed to have not just 1, but 2, balconies that have provided solid spots for our daily dose of vitamin D... or for Wuwu, the perfect spot for her to lather herself in coconut oil to make the most of her tanning opportunities.
Recreating the space has allowed for us to have multiple feels across the little unit, with our "work" space, and our "chill" space. It allowed us to escape the hustle and bustle of fast-paced Central, whilst also being able to be 2 min away from the centre of this city. Most importantly though, I'm so grateful to have been able to create a safe space for people who were intimidated to get started in the gym in the first place, and eventually found themselves integrating Calibrate into their weekly routine without question. The best memories in here revolve around our growing team and family. It is the people that have always made it for me.
Calibrate Studio has been a sanctuary for boundless creativity and a place we proudly called our second home. While we are saddened to say goodbye, we firmly believe that our new partnership with The Gym will propel us even further towards our shared mission of fostering better health, growth, continual education, and community.
This exciting collaboration enables us to bring together the best of both worlds. By combining forces, we expand our network, talent pool, and opportunities for all our members. The Gym shares our dedication to fostering health education and premium training services, providing exceptional resources for our community, making this partnership a natural fit. Together, we will create a vibrant, supportive environment that nurtures collaboration, inspiration, and personal growth.
Our new location at The Gym promises an array of exciting amenities and features, not only is the space double the size of our current studio, but it also includes state-of-the-art fitness equipment, elegantly designed changing rooms, and a passionate community of individuals who share our values. Join us on Sunday, August 27th 2023, from 3-5pm for a casual get together, where we'll say goodbye to our studio space for one final time. While we bid farewell to the space that has nurtured our growth, we eagerly anticipate the next chapter filled with endless opportunities for collaboration, inspiration, and community building.
